STATEMENT BY THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION
|
The Amnesty Committee of Truth and Reconciliation Commission today has granted amnesty to a former secretary of Media Workers Association of South Africa (Mwasa) Sithembele Khala for armed robbery with aggravating circumstances and attempted murder. The committee found that the applicant acted with the requisite political objective and has made full disclosure of all relevant facts. In his testimony Khala pointed out that the operation was authorised by the PAC leadership and Apla was responsible for carrying our as the fund-raising operation. Khala's amnesty application was heard in June in Johannesburg. A victim Mr Theodore Pero who was involved in the shooting was referred by the committee to Reparation and Rehabilitation Committee for consideration
